Starting his road racing career back in 2001, Northern Irishman Eugene Laverty spent many seasons working his way through domestic championships, breaking onto the world scene in 2007. Scoring points with LCR Honda aboard the 250cc Grand Prix machine, Laverty began his steady climb into the WorldSBK paddock as he began to compete in the World Supersport Championship in 2008.
Securing a podium on his wildcard debut in the WorldSSP class, Eugene Laverty then secured a full time position in the series. With a combined total of 12 victories across two seasons, Laverty finished as a runner-up for two seasons in the WorldSSP series before making the step up to WorldSBK. Spending four seasons in the Superbike World Championship, the 30 year old had some series battling for the title, finishing as runner up in 2013.
2015 saw Laverty take the step over to MotoGP, where he had two seasons battling for points scoring finishes with an ‘Open Class’ machine. Laverty returns to WorldSBK for his fifth series, and hopes to make a good impression with Milwaukee Aprilia.
